Main Details
This beautiful Finca, which is situated close to the Alcornocales National Park, is 5 minutes from the small town of Jimina de la Frontera and yet is set in it's own grounds in total tranquillity and privacy with breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside
The Finca has a total of 49,000 sq. metres of land, 25,000 sq. metres of which is under regular cultivation and is used as a paddock for horses. Approximately, 8,000 sq. metres has been made into a beautiful garden which contains many exotic and Mediterranean plants and trees including various palms, yuccas, oleanders and hibiscus and the remaining 17,000 sq. metres contains its own private eucalyptus wood and small stream. There are also numerous fruit trees including apple, orange, lemon, fig, walnut, peach, pear, loganberry, almond and grape vines.
The driveway to the house takes you past 2 stables and a very large dog kennel and yard, where there is space available to extend the stables or add storage facilities.
The house itself is built on one level in an L shape ranch style and has sunshine all day. There are 4 bedrooms (3 of which are double) 1 en suite and another full bath and shower room both with built-in, fitted wardrobes and cupboards. A charming country-style kitchen with beams, gas hob, electric oven and gas hot water and an amazing view through a stable door to the beautiful town of Jimena with its Romano/Moorish castle. The lounge/dining area has a high, beamed ceiling, picture windows to look out at the pool and surrounding countryside and a wonderful rustic fireplace. There is also a utility/store room with plenty of cupboard space, plumbing for a washing machine and sockets for a dryer, fridge/freezer etc. There is also an office with ADSL and 2 phone lines. In winter the house is adequately heated by the fireplace and 2 wood burning stoves and hot water to the bathrooms is supplied by either electricity or a solar panel. All the floors are local Andalusian style terracotta tiles and the doors and fitted cupboards are locally made of solid wood and in typical rustic style.
From the house you step out onto a covered terrace with balustrade, which has steps down to an extensive open terrace with a 10 metre swimming pool. There is also a charming wooden beamed covered BBQ area resplendent with bougainvillea, all of which looks out onto the garden and fruit trees and beyond to Jimena and the mountains – the views are absolutely stunning!
The Finca is served by 2 separate water supplies and has large water deposits to ensure sufficient water in even the driest of times and there is a water supply directly into the paddock for animal use.
Mains electricity and telephone and ADSL (broadband) are installed.
The access road leading from the main road (approx 3 minutes drive) is mostly of cement and is in very good condition – a 4x4 is not necessary!
The picturesque town of Jimena de la Frontera, which is 5 minutes by car from the Finca, is situated on the opposite hill and is bordered by the National park and the river Hozgarganta. It is steeped in history having had both Roman and Moorish occupation, the tell tale signs of which can be seen in the wonderful castle which overlooks the town and the Roman aqueducts by the river. Most modern-day amenities are available including several banks, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, hostals, schools, pharmacies and a 24-hour medical centre.
Jimena is a 25-minute drive through beautiful unspoilt countryside to Sotogrande where there is an International school, which follows both the Spanish and UK school systems offering International Baccalaureate and IGCSE and A level examinations. The school takes pupils from the age of 3 –18 and has a boarding facility.
Gibraltar is 40 minutes away and has an airport with a regular scheduled service to the UK and International banking facilities.
Malaga airport is an hour and a quarter drive and Sevilla is 2 hours drive.
Jimena itself also has a train service with a regular connection to Bobadilla from where you can travel anywhere in Europe.
Marbella and Puerto Banus with their modern shopping facilities are easily accessible and only an hour away.
Tarifa, the wind surfing capital of the world, is approximately an hour’s drive.
Sports facilities in the area are abundant and offer riding either in the countryside or at the San Roque Club or Sotogrande riding centres, tennis clubs, numerous golf courses such as Valderrama, Sotogrande and Almenara, all within 30 minutes drive and of course all water sports. Walking, bird watching and rock climbing are also available all around Jimena.
Finca Avalon offers the best of all worlds – tranquillity and a peaceful, healthy lifestyle and yet it is only a short distance away from International airports, one of the best schools on the Costa del Sol, the beach and every shopping facility that you could wish for.
